"Helping the Children"

 

The Aboriginal Family Support Program provides support to Aboriginal children 0-6 years of age and their families.

 

Funding for this program is provided by Health Canada - Brighter futures Community Action Programs for Children (CAPC).

 

CAPC Projects develop programs based on the Core Standards which is a guide that offers the four components of program curriculum. The four components include: 
 

  • Cultural Development and Retention
  • Child Development and Nutrition
  • Parenting/Caretaking Skill
  • Community Development

The Aboriginal Family Support Program offers the following:

  • Cooking/Nutrition Classes 
  • Parent and Child Playgroup
  • Child Development Programs
  • Nutrition and Hygiene Programs
  • Parenting Classes and Workshops
  • Parent and Child Recreation
  • Social and  Cultural Outings
  • Special Outings and Events
  • Traditional and Cultural Teachings
  • Crafts
  • Supportive Counseling
  • Advocating
  • Referrals
  • Emergency Supplies (limited)
